Yusuf Suder – Pushing the Boundaries
Pushing the boundaries – Yusuf Suder
Yusuf Suder is one of the directors at Ingenium Consulting Engineers. But more important than being a Director – He is a mechanical engineer with passion!
Getting Started
Suder’s journey began in 2010 when he registered for a Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Witwatersrand. Suder then went on to complete a post graduate engineering degree in 2015 and is currently working towards his masters in Mechanical engineering.
Suder began his career at WSP consulting Engineers (then WSP Parsons Brinkerhoff) as a graduate engineer and was taken under the mentorship of specialist HVAC engineers Pieter de Bod and Werner Broers to develop an understanding of project scope and delivery requirements through the exposure of fundamental theories, principles and concepts.
In 2021, Suder leaped forward and joined Ingenium Consulting Engineers with Adele van de Walt. “Adele and I are a dynamic duo. We are able to creatively develop the best solution for the client by working off each other’s strengths.” Suder explained.
Suder is also an associate lecturer at the University of Witwatersrand where he teaches aspiring engineers the Fundamentals of Air conditioning and Mechanics of Solids.
Why this industry?
Suder knew he wanted to pursue a career in mechanical engineering at a relatively young age – “It’s definitely the influence of parents of course. They have always pushed me to excel in mathematics and sciences in school and that’s where the love of engineering was developed. My parents have been my inspiration and motivation from the beginning of my career.” Suder explained. “Then once you understand the fundamental principles, you are able to convert that into real life applications and that is absolutely amazing!”
Projects
Suder has been involved in a variety of engineering projects, this includes the design and implementation of large data centres of more than 38MW of cooling to smaller retail and commercial buildings. Suder has recently been involved in completion of a certified TIER III MTN data centre.
The Future
Keep your eyes peeled…Suder is going to make a difference in the industry.
